And I agree with you on girls and dolls :) Some of the clothing they make nowadays just seem so inappropriate. And some of the dolls are plain ugly! But I think your girls will enjoy what Grandma made for them :)Lenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16064081200654561079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3447552600400794435.post-58329950138953879012013-07-25T09:55:33.044-04:002013-07-25T09:55:33.044-04:00Debby, I have a stash of fabric I refer to as my &...Debby, I have a stash of fabric I refer to as my "Why did I buy this?" I use these pieces to try a pattern for the first time because invariably I need to tweak and change a lot to get the fit I find acceptable. The designer of Simplicity 4268 seems to have the best concept of fit for the bitties. I have not tried the
"resurrected" vintage looking patterns. I agree that having the clothing made in such a way that the little girls can dress the dolls without interrupting their mommies is preferable and does add to their hand-eye co-ordination and to their sense of accomplishment.

I had a customer who begged and pleaded and cajoled me (around 1996) to sew for the bitties. One of her sons had 3 little girls, twins and a younger sister; a blonde, a brunette, and redhead. Each had a bitty, each bitty was named Amy, and if they somehow left the house without all the 3 Amys, there was no peace in the car till they turned around and got the missing Amy! The grandmother finally convinced me to order a bitty and to sew for her. The first bodice I designed as there were no patterns at that time for the bitty body took 7 tries till I am not flinging them across the room in disgusted frustration.

Linda www.PictureTrail.com/sewhappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06569428504331115902noreply@blogger.com
