Kara, myself, and three Bitty babies piled in the car to purchase thread. Shopping with a toddler is not my idea of a good time. Shopping with a toddler and her three babies didn't add to the pleasure but she sure enjoyed it! Ha. We lucked out with the thread as it was on sale 40% off but still I spent $3.84 on a NO spend day. Ever try to FMQ with a three year old setting beside you who has the giggles? Well I can tell you it sure helps when your arms and shoulders start to freeze up. Kara was her usual wide open self but we had a great time.
While Kara napped I was able to get Tyler's quilt washed and dried. No clothesline for this quilt as we have had a cold steady drizzle going on all day.
My favorite part of finishing a quilt is pulling it out of the dryer. What a treat to fold up a warm from the dryer crinkly quilt.
Here he is rolled up, tied with a ribbon ready to surprise Our little big guy.
Well I am at a big old fat goose egg on this fiscal fast so far. Under any other circumstances I would have put the quilt aside until the end of January rather than spend money on thread but I really, really, wanted Tyler to have the quilt tonight. No regrets as DD#1 assured me he loved it. I could hear the smile in his voice when I talked to him this evening. Yep it was worth breaking the rules.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring. My plan is to throw something in the crock pot to share with prego DD#3 for helping me out by delivering Tyler's quilt on her way home tonight. Not only did she save me some gas more importantly she saved me from getting out in the cold rain during rush hour traffic. Maybe some baking with Kara along with baby doll play. The little girls are all about their baby dolls right now.
Kara came up to me today rubbing her tummy.
Me - "Whats wrong Kara/"
Her - "Me tummy hurts"
Me- "Aww, you going to be OK?"
Her- " Ya, there a baby in my tummy"
Me - "Well I didn't know that"
Her- "Ya, de baby in my tummy wants some beans"
These little guys might be germy, messy, wear me out pain in the rumps some days but I wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world. Kara and the baby in her tummy ate the entire bag of beans. Yikes, I am down to one bag of edamane beans in the freezer. Beans are now on the grocery list
Well, I've spent a but of money but not much. My brother teaches at OU and people in this state are happy but keep thinking about how sad Tyler must be. His quilt is great and I hope that makes it somewhat better.
ReplyDeleteOSU, the school in my town, plays their bowl game tonight.
Ty got to stay up late until 9:00 so he didn't have to see his team lose. Congrats to the Sonners as they were the better team last night.
DeleteWhat precious moments your having with kara! She's adorable!!! Tomorrow is another day for that challenge. Hubby keeps tempting me to break that one! I've said " but I need this....." he jumps in NO SPENDING !!haha he's so good!!
ReplyDeleteI need to have your hubby around to stop my spending Sue!! Kara is a handful every day, she keeps us all on our toes but she is a sweet little devil!!
DeleteI meant to add.... great job on that quilt for Tyler!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteThank you, I removed the link! It was fine just yesterday. This is why I had to go to moderated comments and make people have to jump through silly hoops to comment. I was getting hundreds of bad comments much like this site. :(
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Brenda I knew you would never want that link on your blog!! BTW I love your posts
DeleteI so love your quilts, they are all just stunning, and you are so fast with them too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, I don't like having to do quilts as fast as this one but sometimes I have to just get it done, to heck with everything else
DeleteLove it and your sweet little one is watching you isn't she!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe sure is Kathryn, we have to watch her like a hawk or she would be ruling the house in a skinny minute!!
DeleteWow, your granddaughter likes beans? That's awesome!! :)! I'm a wee bit jealous of you, since my grandson lives 17 hrs away!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you spent very much at all. Tomorrow can be a $0.00 day, right?
Funniest thing Sharon all of our grands love those beans, you will have to give them a try on your sweet little grandbaby boy. I would be so sad and broke if the little ones were so far away. I would have to keep the roads and air hot making trips
