Bargains and Recycling

Here is one of my "finds" from Walmart Sunday. Each cute little zipper pouch has 2 magic bottles, fork, spoon, and a covered baby doll feeding dish. Cost each was $4.99. I put a Bitty bottle in front of the purple set to show the size difference. The only way I have found to purchase a "Real" bottle is to buy the starter set at a price tag of $90.00 or the diaper bag set costing $36.00. The little girls will have to make do with the Walmart brand, I think they will be just fine.
On the same isle as the bottles I found a big box full of doll shoes for $2.00 each. Humm... wonder if they would fit the grands Christmas dolls. Yep they worked just fine. I haven't found anywhere that I can purchase just shoes for "Bitty" they all seem to come in an outfit set that runs around $25.00 each. I did see where I could buy some shoes for the standard AG, cost $14.00 @. Wow, I just bought the grands sandals on sale a few weeks back at $6.99 @. Our grands will have to make do with the knock offs! Ha
Lets pretend this hat has a cute flower, bow or something where the straight pin is. Lets also pretend that the cute hat fits Bitty. Oh well I'm pretty sure I can add this one to the standard AG wardrobe for when the little girls are much older.
Now were cooking. Check this out, and all for free!! I remade a pattern to fit bitty to use as a summer top, really cute. The floppy denim hat, bloomers, and doesn't fit hat....shhh don't tell hubby. They came from a pair of jeans he had outgrown!! Oh how I love free for me and decluttering to boot. I would call this recycling at it's cutest.
I didn't embellish the denim hat as I think this can be used as a basic piece for her wardrobe. I need to retake the class on using a double needle in my sewing machine, it sure would have come in handy when I added stitching to the denim pieces.

Finally a tech showed up to look at our downstairs central air unit, after numerous calls inquiring "where is he" only 7 hours late, grrrr. The news wasn't good. The repairs will be over $1,000.00. Our unit is 23 years old, certainly not worth putting that sort of money into soooo....it's time to shop around for this BIG ticket item.

Replacing both units are on our need to do list before retirement. Looks like we will be crossing that project off the list sooner than we thought. Until we decide on the brand and company we want to use I will continue to beat the heat as best I can. Thank goodness the upstairs unit is still running. I don't think I could stand to sleep in a hot house.

I didn't get much accomplished today other than trying not to blow a gasket over the terrible service we were receiving. I kid you not I was on the phone over 3 hours with customer service. They had the nerve to call tonight asking when they could set up an appointment to give us an estimate on a new unit. Your kidding me right!!!! Also had another monkey wrench thrown in, our Internet and phone were out all morning, thank goodness for cell phones.

All in all a pretty stinky day. Tyler was over for a Nanny day, needless to say he wasn't too happy with his Nanny time. At one point he said to me "I want to call Mommy, you don't have any time for me today" that almost made me cry. The repair man was lucky he was outside working, I think I could have done him some harm with my bare hands knowing he was messing with Ty boys Nanny time.

Today is a NEW day. The crock pot is going with a nice pork roast, my sister delivered a package of spaetzle yesterday that I will use as a side, along with a cucumber and fresh tomato. This will be a nice change of pace for dinner. I have had no desire to eat or cook in the hot kitchen but I am sick to death of just throwing something together at the end of the day. What the heck, if need be I will fix my plate and have dinner in bed where the air is still working!!

The To Do's for today are basically done. I finished the housework downstairs this morning by 6:00 AM while the house was still cool enough to work in. I have a quilt cut out from the UFO basket that might get some TLC along with an additional Bitty garment I want to try. As long as I sit under a ceiling fan to work all is good. Well that might be a bit of an overstatement!! Ha
